Your Role

As a Software Engineer Intern (Full-stack/Back-end) within our vibrant 15+ member product and engineering organization, you'll be getting real, hands-on software engineering experience while being at the forefront of crafting innovative solutions for our global student intern community.

Depend on your experience, you will work as a Full-stack or Back-end Web Engineer Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to build and improve systems used by students and companies.

This position will be a stipend-based, full-time, 6-month internship.

  • You’ll assist in designing and building scalable systems used by millions of students and companies.
  • You will collaborate with teams on specific components or projects, gaining hands-on experience in backend and fullstack development.
  • You will bring a fresh perspective to our projects, contributing innovative ideas and solutions that enhance our development processes.
  • You will help troubleshoot production issues and contribute to finding long-term fixes.
  • You will support performance investigations and help optimize existing queries.
  • We believe in a small and effective team - you’ll have a voice in what to build and will take ownership of your contributions.

      Who We're Looking For
      Technical Skills You'll Need🔧
      • Foundational understanding of software development principles.
      • Command over one programming language - preferably JS/Java/Python - including basic debugging skills.
      • Experience or coursework in building web applications and familiarity with at least one framework (e.g., Express, Django).
      • Some knowledge of caching techniques and utilities like Memcache / Redis.
      • Basic understanding of the REST paradigm, service-oriented architecture, and distributed systems.
      • Clear understanding of data structures and algorithms at a fundamental level.
      • Knowledge of how the internet and networking works (i.e., DNS, HTTP, TLS, Certificates, etc.) and the tools and services that enable connectivity (e.g., browsers, CDNs, proxies).
