Job description

Due to a new opportunity that has risen within our organisation, we are currently seeking qualified and experienced coders to join our growing pool of remote clinical coders covering various roles:

1. Specialist ACC qualified/non-ACC Clinical Coding with minimum 3 years’ experience

2. ACC qualified Trainee Clinical Coding Auditor, working across a variety of NHS and independent hospital sites (minimum 1-year experience)

Job Summary:
  • Qualified clinical coder working across various NHS and private hospital sites
  • Permanent role, full or part-time (minimum 3 days per week)
Key Responsibilities:

Co- ordinate and analyse data quality and identify trends while maintaining utmost confidentiality

Responsible for the accurate translation of each step of patient’s clinical health records into international and national codes called ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications

Implementing agreed clinical coding policies, including local variations to coding rules, for the classification of clinical activity, adhering to and applying national clinical coding rules and conventions.

Participate in regular training sessions in order to develop and enhance coding specialty skills.

Update national classification books and manuals in line with the national standards released by the NHS Classifications Service.

Liaise with all levels of ward staff to assist in obtaining an accurate interpretation of the treatment information held in the case notes and other information sources.

  • Good attention to details and must be able to work without supervision
  • excellent skills in organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to manage workload through prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met
  • Have a good educational background or equivalent gained through training, qualification or experience in related field
  • Good understanding of the principle of clinical coding and its uses and an understanding of data quality issues
  • Have experience of working in an NHS environment
  • Ability to communicate coding conventions, rules and theories to clients who may not understand clinical coding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
