The Role:

Alongside our Head of Product, you'll drive the evolution and user experience of The Book — our proprietary Workforce and Hiring platform. You'll be the sole team member from a design background – working with engineering, product and go-to-market. This is a demanding role in a small product team, incubated within a fast-moving services business. We aim to build a lightweight, intuitive platform with powerful, under-the-hood capabilities, derived from the latest AI services — delivering complex functionality, through simple, elegant design.

Key Responsibilities and Contributions:

Design & Innovation:

  • Own our design system, library, and philosophy – bringing good taste, articulate design choices, and organizational professionalism to your area.
  • Partner with product to map and understand the end-to-end user experience in our platform --- seeking more ways to simplify and surprise.
  • Create prototypes of your concepts using AI / no-code tools -- to accelerate decision making and front-end engineering.

User Enablement & Product Storytelling:

  • Create compelling product demonstrations and interactive walkthroughs (using specialist tools) – for product marketing, sales and onboarding new platform users.
  • Work closely with Product and Marketing leaders to communicate our product value and position visually.

Understanding User Needs:

  • Conducting thorough market research to identify gaps and translate these insights into feasible design ideas that meet consumer preferences

Documenting Design Processes:

  • Maintaining clear documentation of design processes, decisions, and guidelines to ensure transparency and consistency throughout the product development lifecycle.

Your Profile:

  • (3+ years) Proven experience as a Product Designer
  • Demonstrable expertise in UX/UI, prototyping and design-system management tools.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a track record of designing complex user interfaces and workflows, with a focus on simplification and user-centricity.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with minimal task-level supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  • Experience working closely with product managers and engineers, as a pragmatic problem solver.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise software development processes, including version control, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience in Enterprise Software – focused on finance, HR or operations (Advantageous)
