Your Role At A Glance
The Quality Control Specialist II will support the Mastercam product line through software testing to ensure that the quality of our software is consistent, meets specifications, and is ready for release. This position works directly with Software Engineering and Product Development to inform them of all known issues, ensuring the tracking of all issues, and providing integration, retest and follow-up testing to ensure fixes provided are complete and the product is ready to ship.
*Direct programming experience is highly desirable!
How You’ll Drive Success
Software Testing
- Build proficiency in all areas of the software to test for technical accuracy, completeness, and usability, including End-to-End testing.
- Build knowledge on Mastercam product and work to become advanced in testing peripheral hardware and software compatibility with Mastercam software (graphics cards, printers, plotters, alternate input devices, etc.).
- Work to become proficient in testing all installation routines and procedures as outlined by the department.
- Aid in the development, maintenance, and execution of test cases, ensuring the quality and stability of the system throughout projects assigned to you.
- Develop an advanced level of knowledge in testing methodologies such as black box, white box, risk-based, and performance tests.
- Assist in Automated Testing to address areas of concern for adherence to functional requirements and regression testing.
Customer and Stakeholder Interaction
- Establish solid working relationships with customers and Channel Partners to receive, test, and verify all problems reported to the QC department, meeting department standards for customer response times and quality metrics.
- Report all findings in the QC database by logging issues and alerting the appropriate QC team member(s) of critical problems as they arise.
- Work directly with Beta testers during the external testing phases
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with an assigned Scrum Team in an Agile environment, testing new functionality to requirements. Refer challenging items to team members as needed.
Expertise and Development
- Participate and undertake applicable professional, technical, and career development training (to include attainment of associated qualifications where required).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as necessary.
The Talents We’re Seeking
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
- ISTQB Foundation Level Certified Tester a plus.
Required Skills
- 4-6 years of formal software testing experience or 5-7 years of experience actively using Mastercam.
- Direct programming or software development experience is highly preferred.
- Creative and effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proven knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking.
- Above average ability to work independently, with self-direction, to complete tasks and projects in a pro-active manner.
- Above average ability to multi-task while projecting a positive outward demeanor.
- Above average time management skills and the ability to work in a team environment successfully supporting others.
- Above average communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide accurate and timely information in a succinct and easy to understand manner.
- Customer-centric: takes ownership and pride in customer experience; always professional and pleasant.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Mastercam or Manufacturing basics.
- Automated software testing experience and experience utilizing Agile development practices.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum testing methodologies.
