JOB DESCRIPTION: Subject Matter Expert / Course Developer

Title: Subject Matter Expert / Course Developer

Course: Human Growth and Development 1 and 2

Department:        School of Mental Health

FLSA Status:     Exempt

Full/Part-Time:    Contract

Location: Online/remote

Job Description/Summary:

The School of Mental Health at Sonoran University of Health Sciences is launching a new Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MSCMHC) program and is actively seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assist in the development of the 6-week, 2.5 credit, online course, Human Growth and Development 1, and the 6-week, 2 credit, online course, Human Growth and Development 2.

These courses are offered sequentially in the third quarter of the MSCMHC program. Human Growth and Development 1 is a survey course that explores developmentally based processes identified in the field of counseling. Topics include typical human behavior, including moral and cognitive development across the lifespan according to Erikson, Piaget, Marcia, and Kohlberg. Human Growth and Development 2 focuses on clinically oriented practices to address developmental issues observed in counseling. Students will analyze and then develop case conceptualizations and treatment plans to work successfully with clients with developmental issues and challenges.

Preference will be given to applicants who are interested and qualified to teach these courses following development.

Subject Matter Experts within the School of Mental Health are critical to the success of Sonoran University’s online programs. 9. Agree to submit deliverables to the Instructional Support Team in adherence with the agreed upon course development schedule. Deliverables may include recorded lectures, assignments, assignment instructions, rubrics, and/or resources like book chapters, articles, websites, or videos.
