Summary:
Responsible for providing day to day administrative oversight to multiple IT Applications teams. This position provides leadership, tactical and strategic input on management, development, and oversight of IT systems at Virtua Health. The Applications Team Manager manages the day-to-day personnel operations for their respective applications teams
Position Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and guidance, coaches, trains, develops and holds accountable departmental staff, resulting in well-trained, reliable, customer service-oriented department employees; performs assessments of work ; creates commitment and ownership within team by encouraging responsibility, recognizing achievements, setting goals, priorities and delegating with clear expectations; keeps current in trends; develops and implements staff education plans.
Coordinates, manages, monitors, and evaluates staff; manages difficult personnel issues; assures ongoing professional development for self and staff by continually pursuing learning and professional education and credentials (certifications & advanced degrees); develops and guides Individual Development Plans for staff; supports the development of commitment and ownership within the IT Application Team by encouraging responsibility, recognizing achievements, setting proper goals and priorities and delegating with clear expectations.
Supports projects by collaborating with IT Management, Project Managers & Leads for resource planning, matching staff skills set with project requirements; manages staff task conflict; reviews project status, staff project task completion and provide input to update; address project staff/team issues as appropriate; enforce policies/procedures for staff's adherence to the use of team templates and project documentation; supports transition to support.
Identifies, supports, and uses technologies and methods to maximize performance within the team and IT that will enhance the value provided by IT to support the overall Virtua initiatives and workflow process; serves as the IT Liaison to the customer base. Ensure system changes follow change management procedures and protocols.
Contributes to the development and implementation of business plans related to IT Applications. Manages teams to design and implement new and revised systems and software to ensure effective and efficient streamlined services. Manages budget as it relates to area of responsibility includes processing of invoices, requisitions and POs
Works constructively with vendors and IT partners to ensure on-going service and resolution of issues; participates in vendor contract review and negotiation.
Provide 24 x 7 on-call support as required. Adhere to IT Business practices and Project Methodology.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
5 years progressive experience in healthcare or healthcare IT.
Strong analytical / problem solving skills, outstanding communication skills. Demonstrated aptitude or interest in digital systems/tools, and a demonstrated history of top performance.
Must be knowledgeable regarding the business of health care, the flows of information and emerging technologies. Must be able to function autonomously and as part of a team. Must be able to deal with ambiguity and multiple priorities in a busy decentralized multi-entity environment. Must be an excellent role model and service provider with a commitment to quality, with the ability to convey confidence in the IT function and provide leadership and mentoring to staff.
Required Education:
B.A or B.S required.
Training / Certification / Licensure:
IT certifications may be required as needed by Virtua.
If IT certification, such as Epic certification, is required at time of hire, employee must obtain up-to-date certification in designated application(s) within 6 months of employment.
Proficient with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Also, expertise in the use of Service Now.
