The systems design specialist will be responsible for needs assessment, data gathering and design of network infrastructure, security (access control, surveillance, inter-communications, intrusion detection), network rack layouts, structured cabling systems (SCS) for inside and outside plant, including pathways, and other systems used in public safety facilities. This role involves collaborating with various MCP departments, clients, industry partners, architects, and contractors to ensure the effective deployment and integration of solutions that meet the rigorous demands of public safety and emergency management operations. The ability to conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements is essential. Candidates are required to translate client requirements into system designs that meet functionality and budgetary needs. Candidates will be required to generate functional system descriptions, complete block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plates, cabling assemblies, and produce specifications and budget estimates. Candidates will be required to participate on design teams for facilities, review drawings, and submittals, and develop specifications and budget estimates. On site inspection of installation may also be required on occasion. Ideal candidates should have technical expertise and the ability to coordinate information to support the design of essential facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to supporting critical public safety initiatives. Participate in project meetings with internal teams and external clients.
