This role will focus on the preparation and final review of Forms 706, 709 and 1041 for our clients nationally. What you’ll be doing:
You will engage in the detailed preparation and review of Forms 706, 709 and 1041, with a specialized focus on estate returns (Form 706). You will manage multiple projects with precision, adhering to strict timelines while ensuring compliance across various states and changes in beneficiaries. You will also be assisting, training, and answering questions of junior team members who are preparing Forms 706, 709, and 1041. You will need to be competent in reviewing legal documents, including trust agreements, wills, entity agreements, deeds, and buy-sell agreements as they relate to Forms 706, 709, and 1041.
Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively will be crucial to your success. As you collaborate clients and leaders across the firm, they will look to your expertise in delivering accurate and high-quality results. You will serve a diverse group of business owners, along with their families and teams, with successful backgrounds in a variety of industries.
What you’ll need for this position:
10+ years of experience in gift, trust, estate tax compliance
Experience preparing, reviewing and handling audits of Form 706, with the ability to lead the project to completion, work with attorneys and external professionals, understand GST and funding formulas, and be able to provide recommendations on administration and future opportunities
Experience reviewing Form 1041, with an ability to handle complex, multi-state issues and changes in beneficiaries and trust operations
Experience reviewing Form 709 reporting gifts/sales on different schedules, allocating GST exemption, and reviewing trust documents for withdrawal rights
Ability to navigate financial statements, tax returns, and other legal documents
Demonstrated success in building and managing professional relationships
Exceptional organizational skills to navigate complex projects and deliver results within strict timelines
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate and teach complex tax concepts to staff and clients
Curiosity to go beyond the textbook, asking hard questions, researching, and using technical skills to provide solutions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to travel (less than 10% annually)
Bonus skills:
Experience in estate planning
Experience navigating IRS audits
CCH Engagement and CCH Axcess
CPA or JD license a plus

Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $125,000 to $200,000.
