Job description

Chamber of Progress, a center-left tech industry association devoted to technology’s progressive future, is seeking a part time Litigation Counsel contractor to assist our Legal Advocacy Counsel in managing litigation projects.  This role will focus on potential litigation challenging state-level laws.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Legal Advocacy Counsel in managing litigation against state-level laws
  • Help manage outside counsel, court deadlines, and work with corporate partners
  • Work with the Legal Advocacy Counsel to align on substantive legal arguments and help build consensus around litigation strategy
  • Work with outside counsel on preparing for depositions and discovery, when needed.
  • Help ensure that legal filing sare high quality, timely, and strategically sound

  • Requirements
  • J.D. from an ABA Accredited law school.5+ years post-law school legal experience
  • Experience with litigation through either a clerkship, legal public interest group, or law firm litigation role
  • Litigation management experience
  • Excellent judgment and discretion
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in legal issues impacting technology, and in First Amendment law.
  • Fast learner
  • Outstanding legal writing skills.
  • Membership in good standing of a State Bar, and ability to seek admission to the D.C. Bar. 
  • Role is a part-time contractor role of 20 hours per week
  • Remote okay; must be located within the continental United States

  • Compensation
  • Weekly rate of $1750 - $1950/week (lump sum, pre-tax) based on experience level
  • Independent contractor role; no benefits provided
  • Taxes are individual’s responsibility
