Job Description:

A Video Editor is responsible for assembling, editing, and refining raw footage into polished videos for various purposes, including marketing campaigns, social media content, and internal communications. They enhance visual appeal, storytelling, and message clarity through creative editing techniques, transitions, and effects. Business owners need a skilled video editor to produce high-quality videos that captivate audiences, convey brand messages effectively, and drive engagement and conversions.

VIDEO EDITOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Video Editors’ primary responsibility is to transform raw footage into compelling, polished videos that effectively convey the intended message. Here’s how they achieve this:

Editing Footage: Seamlessly assemble raw footage, ensuring smooth transitions, and logical sequencing to create a cohesive narrative.
Applying Effects and Transitions: Enhance visual appeal and storytelling by adding effects, transitions, overlays, and graphics.
Color Correction and Grading: Adjust color balance, contrast, and brightness to achieve a consistent and professional look.
Audio Editing: Enhance audio quality, synchronize sound with visuals, and add background music or sound effects.
Storyboarding and Script Review: Collaborate with the creative team to align editing with the overall vision and message of the project.
Meeting Deadlines: Work efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
Staying Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, software updates, and emerging technologies to continually improve editing skills.

Requirements

Sample portfolio of previous video editing projects or samples.
Proficiency in Adobe Premier Pro or Final Cut Pro.
At least 50Mbps internet speed.
Proven experience as a videographer/editor or similar role.
Strong knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
Familiarity with motion graphics software like Adobe After Effects or Apple Motion.
Solid understanding of composition, framing, and storytelling principles in videography.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Nice to have:

Familiarity with video editing software like Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro.
Knowledge of basic editing principles.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva).
