Position Overview
For the Cloud Services & SRE team, we are seeking a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer - Security to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening the security aspects of our observability and monitoring infrastructure. You will collaborate with experienced Site Reliability Engineers and work under the direct supervision of the Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Security to enhance security monitoring, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of observability tooling, security monitoring solutions, Kubernetes, and cloud security best practices, as well as experience with web applications and relevant security frameworks.
Capstone Overview
The 12-Week Capstone Project for Cloud Security Intern focuses on implementing security monitoring solutions in a Kubernetes environment. It begins with onboarding, tool access, and an introduction to Kubernetes and Grafana. The intern then researches open-source security monitoring tools like Falco, Kube-bench, and Sysdig, evaluating their capabilities and integration with Grafana. After selecting a solution, they set up a test environment, deploy the chosen tool, collect logs, and create Grafana dashboards for security visualization. The project progresses with dashboard refinement, alert configuration, and testing under various conditions to optimize performance and security. Security best practices are documented, and final implementation adjustments are made in a production-like environment. The last stages focus on preparing documentation, architectural diagrams, and a final presentation outlining the solution, security considerations, and implementation process. By the end, the intern gains hands-on experience with security monitoring, dashboard creation, and Kubernetes observability, while the organization benefits from a well-documented security monitoring framework.
