About The Opportunity  

As a Business Development Manager (BDM) in Western Australia, you will oversee the Perth Architecture & Design (A&D) sector and the Asian market. Your responsibilities include managing existing accounts, fostering new relationships, and prospecting potential Trade Clients. Collaborating closely with and reporting to the Head of Partnerships & Emerging Markets, you will focus on driving sales growth in both Perth and emerging markets. This role requires a passionate, driven, and professional sales individual with strong multitasking abilities, capable of visiting clients or hosting them at various locations. 

We are looking for someone who is well-connected and has the ability to proactively identify opportunities within their network. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Enhance sales through exceptional customer service—position Armadillo as the industry’s preferred brand by strategically managing relationships with existing customers. 
  • Responsible for maintaining existing relationships and fostering the development of new leads across several markets. 
  • Drive sales by cultivating new customer relationships and identifying and leveraging business development opportunities with a personalised approach. 
  • Establish and grow trade sales. 
  • Complete face-to-face meetings across key locations to build brand awareness, foster new relationships, educate clients on products and create new business opportunities. 
  • Continue building upon a book of active and engaged clients whilst also seeking out new connections and contacts to expand our database and build brand awareness. 
  • Collaborate with the Head of Partnerships & Emerging Markets to establish a strong presence in new markets, particularly Asia. 
  • Perform administration tasks including quoting, order processing and weekly activity reporting with the support of our wider sales team. 
  • Prepare tailored presentations, proposals, and quotations for clients based on their unique needs and specifications, enhancing customer satisfaction and closing opportunities. 
  • Research and engage with new customer leads, fostering solid connections and relationships. 
  • Stay informed about industry news, business information and changes, product details, competitor analysis, and related micro and macro impacts.  
  • Report on sales and engagement performance against KPIs to track and drive success. 
  • Attend and represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to enhance brand visibility and stay connected to key players in the market. 
  • Manage and oversee projects from the initial lead generation phase to post-sale follow-up, ensuring seamless execution and client satisfaction.

Ideally, you will have: 

  • A strong background in architecture and design and an understanding of our customers. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience and a proven experience in a trade BDM position where sales growth and business development activities were required, preferably within the home decor or textiles industry. Prior experience in account management is preferred. 
  • Prior experience building a trade client base in Asian markets (preferred but not essential). 
  • Impactful presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a range of clients that will have varied degrees of familiarity with the brand. 
  • A full and current driver’s license valid in WA, Australia and a willingness to travel. 
  • An organised and structured approach to the week. Ability to plan visits, presentations, outbound sales activities and in-office presence in advance.  
  • Excellent research and customer profiling abilities to identify and cultivate new business leads. 
  • Proficiency in generating quotes, processing orders and managing databases. 
  • Ability to monitor and report on sales performance, ensuring alignment with KPIs. 
  • Agility and initiative is a must.
