Job description

Are you passionate about regenerative agriculture and sustainability? Do you have expertise in project management, agronomy, and stakeholder engagement? If you are based in Central-Northern Italy, this opportunity may be the perfect fit for you!

What can you expect?

Preferred by Nature is looking for a Senior Agriculture Specialist to support our regenerative agriculture initiatives in Italy. This role will focus on managing projects related to sustainable farming, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem services. You will oversee field-level implementation, engage with stakeholders, and contribute to the strategic expansion of regenerative agriculture programs.

As a Senior Agriculture Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in leading project execution, managing data-driven methodologies, and supporting funding efforts. You will collaborate with farmers, agronomists, research institutions, and government agencies to enhance sustainable agriculture practices and promote landscape-scale environmental impact.

Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

  • Support the coordination and management of the LENs Italy program, ensuring smooth execution of regenerative agriculture interventions.
  • Oversee field-level implementation, working closely with agronomists, service providers, and project partners.
  • Contribute to funding and partnership development by identifying co-investment opportunities and engaging with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality control of datasets and support the analysis of environmental and agronomic data to monitor project performance.

Your first year with us:

Within three months, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Preferred by Nature’s mission, operations, and regenerative agriculture programs in Italy.
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, partners, and funders.
  • Support farm-level MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) procedures in line with project objectives and funder requirements.

Within six months, you will:

  • Take ownership of project implementation, ensuring alignment with regenerative agriculture principles.
  • Provide technical support to agronomists, service providers, and project teams.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and actively engage with stakeholders to improve project impact.

Within twelve months, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate activities across multiple project sites for cohesive implementation.
  • Work with consortium partners to expand and refine landscape-level regenerative agriculture strategies.
  • Represent Preferred by Nature in industry forums, policy discussions, and funding engagements.

Important that you:

  • Have an advanced degree in environmental management, agronomy, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Have a strong background in regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and biodiversity enhancement.
  • Are proficient in GIS tools, remote sensing technologies, and soil health assessment methodologies.
  • Have excellent data analysis and management skills, with experience handling large datasets for decision-making.
  • Knowledge of ecosystem services frameworks and experience designing interventions for biodiversity conservation.
  • Experience with grant proposal writing and funding applications to support program sustainability.
  • Familiarity with LENs (Landscape Enterprise Networks) methodologies and cross-sector collaboration models.
  • Have proven experience in managing agricultural or environmental projects, preferably in multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Are fluent in Italian and English, with professional proficiency in both languages.
  • Have a valid driving license and the ability to travel to project sites.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
