Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager who is passionate about joining a team dedicated to making a difference in the life of learners and educators. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with software engineers and cross-functional teams to design, build and roll-out products that deliver the company’s vision and strategy.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as the agile scrum master of teams as assigned for each Program Increment.
Manage, prioritize, and execute on accepted objectives through Jira tickets and cross-functional communication with student and educator team members.
Manage the Jira ticket process in each sprint. Actively refine the tickets in close collaboration with team members, including editing descriptions, definition of done, and correct tagging.
Run refinement, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives as needed by the team.
Understand and communicate technical constraints or dependencies and how these may affect objectives.
Communicate out decisions on determining the priorities, engaging all relevant stakeholders.
Be flexible and agile in the changing requirements of new development.
Create, maintain, and communicate project status and schedule from initiation to release.
Lead the team to define, scope and estimate deliverables using Jira.
Contribute to the documentation in Confluence of meetings, decision logs, definitions, etc.
Understand the milestones of the project and deliver on schedule.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and milestones.
Act as mediator between team members and with external stakeholders when resource conflicts arise.
Determine need and assist in managing external consultants and contractors (as needed).
Collaborate with other Project Managers to align projects with best practices when appropriate.
Job Requirements:
Proven working experience managing engineering teams, preferably in the educational technology market.
A minimum of 5+ years experience managing cross-functional software teams.
Experience managing software and/or web-based projects throughout the development lifecycle and an aptitude for understanding technical concepts.
Familiarity and experience with project management tools and best practices - including Scrum/Agile Methodologies.
Experience using issue tracking tools (especially JIRA) to manage and schedule development tasks.
Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization. Ability to work collaboratively with peers and executives across functions, facilitation experience.
Excellent relationship building and negotiating skills. Highly developed listening skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and solid technical background with understanding of software development and web technologies.
Experience with the K-12 domain preferred
A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree, or equivalent experience.
