Reporting directly into the VP, Finance Shared Services, the Sr. Manager/Director, Clinical Goods & Services is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for clinical products and services across Unified Women’s Healthcare’s Affiliated Practices. This role focuses on optimizing procurement for medical supplies, equipment, and services essential for delivering high-quality women's healthcare, including obstetrics, gynecology, fertility, and other specialized services.
The incumbent will work closely with external Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), manufacturers, distributors, and internal stakeholders to negotiate bulk purchasing agreements, standardize products, and implement procurement operations for the Affiliated Clinical Entities. They will also conduct pricing analysis, oversee contract utilization, maximize cost efficiencies, and improve operational outcomes. The incumbent will own and manage the Hybrent eCommerce purchasing system, ensuring seamless procurement operations, inventory tracking, and vendor integrations.
Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy and Management
Lead sourcing and negotiating contracts for medical equipment, diagnostic devices, imaging systems, surgical tools, and patient monitoring systems through GPO agreements.
Leads efforts to transition clinics to new GPO contracts with minimal disruption.
Identifies and implements process efficiencies within the clinical supply chain.
Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to medical practices.
Align purchasing decisions with clinical, operational, and financial goals to optimize patient care and cost savings.
Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing, service level agreements (SLAs), and on-time delivery.
Conduct vendor performance reviews, ensuring adherence to quality, reliability, and compliance standards.
Oversee purchasing agreements, standardization initiatives, and vendor rationalization to optimize procurement processes.
Manage supplier risk by ensuring contingency planning for critical clinical supply chain disruptions.
Hybrent eCommerce Management
Act as the primary administrator for the Hybrent eCommerce purchasing system, overseeing system configuration, user access, and troubleshooting.
Train and support staff on Hybrent system functionality, procurement workflows, and best practices.
Monitor and optimize Hybrent’s data analytics, reporting tools, and integrations with vendors and internal systems.
Ensure procurement transactions, purchase orders, and supplier catalogs are correctly maintained within Hybrent.
Work closely with IT, finance, and accounts payable teams to drive continuous system improvements.
Financial & Cost Optimization
Drive cost reduction initiatives across the clinical supply chain while balancing quality and patient safety considerations.
Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and formulary standardization.
Track and report key GPO KPIs, including cost savings, spend under management, and contract utilization.
Partner with finance and operational teams to accurately forecast clinical rebates, admin fees, and price reductions to optimize budget allocation.
Develop comprehensive site of third party reports across distributors, manufacturers, and GPOs to accurately leverage Unified Women’s scale to negotiate better pricing and services.
Perform clinical product cross-pricing analysis, SKU rationalization, and branded vs non-branded analysis to drive costs down while reducing vendor proliferation.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all sourcing and procurement activities adhere to healthcare regulations, including FDA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other industry standards.
Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and service levels while mitigating risk (IT Security, HIPPA, BAA).
Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure contract compliance across affiliated practices.
Work closely with legal and compliance teams to mitigate risks associated with supplier agreements.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical field; Masters preferred.
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of procurement experience in healthcare, medical equipment, or clinical supply chain management.
5 to 3+ years leading and developing high-performing teams in a clinical environment.
Experience working with women’s health services, fertility treatments, OB/GYN practices, or ambulatory care centers is highly desirable.
Experience working with GPOs contracts, supplier negotiations, and cost-saving strategies.
Familiarity with clinical products, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and service agreements within a healthcare setting.
Strong background in analyzing purchasing data, cost modeling, and supplier performance management.
Strong background in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management within a healthcare setting.
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with physicians, clinicians, and business leaders.
Ability to influence and drive change within a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.
High attention to detail with a solutions-oriented mindset for improving supply chain
Technical Skills:
Experience managing or optimizing Hybrent or a similar eCommerce procurement system.
Proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce and other similar systems.
Deep knowledge of clinical products, supply chain requirements, including medical devices, consumables, and pharmaceuticals.
Expertise in evaluating new medical products, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining quality standards.
Ability to balance cost-effectiveness with clinical efficacy, ensuring patient safety and operational efficiency.
Strong data analytics (Advanced Excel or above) skills for tracking spending, vendor performance, and cost-saving opportunities.
Knowledge of FDA regulations, Joint Commission standards, HIPAA compliance, and other healthcare purchasing regulations.
