Position Overview

As a Senior Cloud Performance Engineer at XTEL, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our systems operate efficiently and reliably. You will identify, resolve, and prevent performance bottlenecks, improve response times, and minimize resource utilization. Your efforts will ensure our systems handle expected workloads without compromising stability or user experience, while also planning for future growth and peak utilization.


Key Responsibilities

Continuously monitor cloud infrastructure and applications to identify bottlenecks and anticipate future needs. Analyze and correlate monitoring events across various infrastructure and application components to derive actionable insights for continuous improvement. Define and implement strategies to optimize resource usage, cost, and performance of cloud workloads. Ensure cloud resources are adequately provisioned to handle current and future workloads. Develop scripts and tools to automate performance monitoring and optimization tasks. Collaborate closely with development teams to optimize code and system architecture. Work with application management and support teams to enhance user experience and anticipate customer needs.


Qualifications

A great candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical/STEM field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in cloud performance engineering (infrastructure and the hosted application workloads).
  • Proficiency with the Azure platform, including Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services, Azure DevOps, and Entra ID.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure performance management tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Advisor, Log Analytics, Traffic Manager, and Network Watcher.
  • Strong knowledge of Kusto query.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with internal teams for driving improvements and achieving goals.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Eligible to work in Italy without sponsorship.


Nice to have:

  • C# knowledge.
  • Familiarity with complementary cloud performance management tools.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and web services technology stack layers.
  • Experience in building scripts, tooling, and automation for cloud performance management.
  • Knowledge of Terraform and Terragrunt.

Location Preferences:

Our headquarters is located in Casalecchio di Reno, Bologna, and we offer hybrid work arrangements. While we prioritize candidates who are based in Bologna and the surrounding areas for hybrid work, we are open to considering other options on a case-by-case basis.
