Job Summary
The Senior Manager – Accounting Services will be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of accounting services to clients, ensuring compliance with international accounting standards, and overseeing a team of accounting professionals. This individual will play a key leadership role, providing guidance to junior staff, managing client relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality services. The role requires a strong technical understanding of accounting principles (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP), as well as excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management: Lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality service delivery. Assign work to team members based on their skills and experience and ensure efficient utilization of resources. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify training and development needs within the team.
Client Relationship Management: Manage key client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for day-to-day accounting and financial queries. Ensure that services provided meet client expectations in terms of quality, timeliness, and accuracy. Provide proactive recommendations to clients on how to improve financial processes and optimize their accounting functions.
Service Delivery & Quality Control: Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements (annual and interim) in accordance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and other applicable accounting standards. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations in all financial reporting and accounting services. Lead monthly and quarterly management reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Review accounting records and ensure the correct classification of transactions, reconciliations, and adjustments.
Technical Accounting & Advisory: Provide technical accounting advice on complex transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, foreign exchange, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, laws, and regulations, ensuring that the company’s services are always compliant. Prepare technical papers on accounting treatments and interpretations of new standards.
Project Management & Coordination: Manage multiple client accounts simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including tax, audit, and consulting, to ensure seamless service delivery for clients. Handle client queries and resolve any issues that arise in the provision of accounting services.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist clients in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Provide valuable insights into the financial performance of clients through analysis and interpretation of financial data.
Business Development Support: Collaborate with the business development team to identify new opportunities for services and support the proposal process. Assist in preparing presentations and proposals for new business opportunities, showcasing the firm’s expertise in accounting services.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Lead efforts to continuously improve service delivery processes and accounting practices. Drive the implementation of innovative accounting solutions and technologies that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CA, or equivalent).
7+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3-4 years in a managerial role overseeing teams.
A solid understanding of international accounting standards, particularly IFRS and UK GAAP. Experience in Financial Services:
Proven experience in providing accounting services to clients in various sectors, including financial services, corporate entities, and international clients.
Experience in managing complex financial reporting and advisory services, particularly in a multinational environment.
Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of accounting software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP).
Strong understanding of financial management processes, from transaction recording to financial statement preparation and analysis.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership ability in managing and developing teams, providing mentorship, and fostering a positive work environment. Experience in managing client relationships and acting as the primary point of contact for senior executives.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in other languages is a plus.
