Job Description:

   

The Manager will lead one of the HPE HPC System Management development teams that design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs, including software enhancements and new products. Scope includes system installations, upgrades, security, performance, reliability, and scale of HPE system management products and all related platform components.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates.
  • Manage systems software projects, including operating systems, networking, utilities, databases, etc.
  • Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects and programs, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Engage with program and product managers, marketing, technical leaders, and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions.
  • Provide overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting, and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development.
  • Drive and foster organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team members and process development.

Requirements

  • Experience as a manager with a role that includes interaction with cross-functional technical leaders, senior management, peer managers, product managers and individual engineers.
  • Ability to work with mostly remote and internationally geographically dispersed teams and team members.
  • Experience leading a team using Agile methodologies.
  • Project Management experience that includes project planning, budgeting, managing contractual requirements, equipment planning, automated testing, and resource planning.
  • People Management experience, which includes mentoring, goal development, career planning assistance, hiring and compensation. 
  • Ability to further establish and maintain a cooperative development team with a commitment to sound software engineering principles.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and management.
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior business acumen, technical knowledge of multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
  • Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.
  • Strong understanding of the company's policies and processes.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Knowledge of system management, system configuration, and networking using Linux.
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern technologies, CI/CD/CT pipelines, and automated testing platforms.
  • Extensive experience in managing a team of engineers with software and security domain expertise in distributed systems and services models – REST-based services – as well as integration with 3rd party web services, orchestration systems, control, and management planes.
  • Exposure to software, languages, toolchains, and supporting engineers writing production level code.
  • Strategic and creative thinkers are preferred.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Typically, 10+ years of experience with a minimum of 5 years of that being in a management role.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. USD Annual Salary: $157,500.00 - $361,500.00
