Binnies is recruiting a design and build project manager to join our Solutions by Nature (SBN) team providing whole-lifecycle Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to the water sector and related industries. Following recent framework successes, we are seeking to continue the sustained growth and development of our team to meet the demands of our clients and future opportunities.
Reporting to the SBN Delivery Director, you will use your wide-ranging experience of project delivery (from concept to construction) to develop, design and deliver scaled NbS projects for a wide variety of clients and industries.
You will be responsible for the planning and management of our pipeline of whole-lifecycle projects to the defined scope, cost and programme, meeting all relevant SHEQ targets and ensuring excellent customer satisfaction in fulfilling their requirements. This will be completed by coordinating a multi-disciplinary environmental and engineering project team within Binnies, the RSK group and through the management and control of an extensive specialist supply chain.
The location of the role will be predominantly in the South East of England, but you must be willing and able to travel to client, Binnies and RSK offices and project sites throughout the UK. We offer a flexible approach to daily working arrangements to ensure that a positive work-life balance is maintained.

Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, monitor and control projects in terms of scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management.
- Contract management under a range of framework and standalone contracts.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams, managing project delivery through both Consultancy and Construction phases, in line with QA/QC procedures of SBN and clients.
- Ensure Health, Safety and Wellbeing is at the heart of all projects, delivering projects in line with CDM Regulations and all relevant H&S protocols.
- Understand and deliver to client performance requirements.
- Effectively control and manage project change, risk and opportunity.
- Drive innovation and efficiencies into project delivery.
- Deliver projects to as-sold financial metrics or better, forecasting and reporting regularly on performance.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems, and drive innovation and efficiencies throughout the project delivery process.
- Lead in the development of successful proposals, creating appropriate scopes, commercial models (inc. risks), and programmes.
- Opportunity (as required) to work across the wider Environmental Consultancy project portfolio and client base.
- Use knowledge and experience to proactively engage with internal and external clients developing relationships, positioning SBN and offering its services, along with those of the wider business, to meet specific client challenges and develop relevant opportunities; and
- Be seen by clients as an advocate for their organisation and as a trusted partner, thus enhancing their perception of SBN and Binnies.
Qualifications / Attributes
The successful candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate their competency / experience in the following essential areas:
- Project Management experience, delivering small to medium scale projects in Consultancy, Construction or Client environments, across the whole project lifecycle.
- Leadership of multi-disciplinary teams within the water and / or environmental industry, motivating individuals to drive success.
- Experience of CDM Regulations (particularly Principal Contractor and Principal Designer roles), and construction Health & Safety practices.
- Understanding and practical knowledge of common forms of contract (i.e., NEC3, IChemE) and pricing models (i.e., lump sum, cost reimbursable, target price).
- Delivery driven with the ability to set targets, and deliver to time, cost and quality objectives.
- Ability to work under own initiative and autonomy, taking informed decisions quickly to solve problems and effectively manage multiple priorities within time and resource constraints.
- Collaborative individual who can work dynamically in pursuit of the best possible outcome for project deliverables, wider business and project team.

- Passionate to deliver sustainability to clients and projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication with the ability to work in close partnership with clients, and other key internal and external stakeholders; and
Additionally, the ideal candidate would also possess the following desirable competencies / experience:
- Chartership in a related Engineering or Environmental field.
- Industry recognised qualification in Project Management (i.e., APM).
- Experience in delivering Nature-Based Solutions / Blue-Green Infrastructure projects across the whole project lifecycle.
- Proficiency in the use of project planning software (i.e., Microsoft Project).
