OUR VISION:

OUR PURPOSE:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to play a critical role in our company’s broader cloud transformation initiatives at Greif, moving towards a cloud-powered, AI-ready infrastructure. You will work with third party consultants for the design, implementation, and optimization of our Azure (and hybrid-cloud) environments while also establishing robust cloud governance, support frameworks, and modernizing our application and database layers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Azure, particularly implementing Azure’s Well-Architected Framework, and excels at problem-solving and transferring solutions into reference architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Strategy & Architecture
    • Design and implement scalable Azure-based solutions aligned with business objectives.
    • Assist in developing cloud governance models and best practices to ensure consistent and secure deployments.
    • Contribute to the overall cloud transformation roadmap, positioning Greif’s infrastructure for future AI, data governance, and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Migration & Modernization
    • Lead on-premise to cloud migrations with minimal downtime, focusing on application and database modernization.
    • Enhance current workloads to leverage cloud-native services, ensuring optimal performance and maintainability.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
    • Automate environment setup and lifecycle management using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
    • Maintain version control, documentation, and collaboration standards for consistent deployments.
  • Security & Compliance
    • Implement security best practices, including identity management (Azure AD) and role-based access control.
    • Establish and uphold compliance frameworks, ensuring adherence to industry standards and corporate policies.
    • Develop guardrails that align with cloud governance principles and data privacy requirements.
  • Performance & Cost Optimization
    • Utilize Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Cost Management to track resource usage, identify optimizations, and manage budgets effectively.
    • Drive continuous improvement in scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency within the cloud environment.
  • DevOps & CI/CD
    • Collaborate with development and QA teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, AKS, Docker).
    • Champion DevOps culture, promoting automation, continuous improvement, and shared responsibility for production stability.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
    • Work closely with IT, development, and leadership teams to align cloud initiatives with business needs.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to application owners and database administrators during modernization and transformation projects.
    • Communicate key updates, milestones, and potential risks to relevant stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
  • AI-Ready Infrastructure
    • Partner with the big data teams to ensure the infrastructure supports advanced AI/ML workloads.
    • Evaluate emerging cloud and AI services to maintain a forward-looking technology stack capable of scaling for future AI initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) highly desirable.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure; exposure to AWS or Google Cloud a plus.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and scripting (PowerShell, Python).
  • Solid understanding of virtualization, containerization, serverless computing, and AI/ML cloud services.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Cloud Governance & Security
    • Demonstrated success implementing governance frameworks, security policies, and identity/access management (Azure AD, RBAC).
    • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SOC, GDPR) and data privacy regulations.
  • Migration & Modernization
    • Hands-on experience migrating applications/databases from on-premise to cloud, emphasizing minimal disruption.
    • Strong background in refactoring or re-platforming legacy systems to modern, cloud-native architectures.
  • Soft Skills
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills, working across diverse teams and stakeholders.
