Job description

Online placement (E-Volunteer)

Location of partner: Colombia

Start date: April/May 2025

Duration of placement: 4 months

Language requirements: Spanish Level 4-Advanced

Open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada only

General Purpose: Cuso International is looking for a person interested in being part of an International Volunteer programme whose focus is to contribute to the development and empowerment of women, girls, and people in situations of poverty and vulnerability in Colombia.

The general purpose of the position is to provide support to our allied organisation, Guardabosques de la Sierra; the aim of the position is to increase its technical capacity for the use of the website, the creation of social networks, the generation of content and the creation of an organisational image, so that it grows with high standards of quality and ethics. The aim is to achieve organisational deployment and the creation of an internal and external communication and marketing strategy for the association, enabling it to be an adaptive, innovative, equitable and collaborative organisation with a systemic perspective, consistent with the principles of the organisation and the complexity of the challenges it faces.

The role of the E-Volunteer

As an E-Volunteer, you will:

  • Design an internal and external communication and marketing strategy.
  • Diagnose the current website and be able to make changes as required.
  • Support the creation of social networks
  • Facilitate and teach the designated team from Guardabosques de la Sierra in the creation and design of content for social networks.
  • Support the creation of shared content within the association as part of its internal communication strategy, through WhatsApp and other means of communication that allow the creation of a strengthened community.

Essential academic qualifications:

  • University degree and/or postgraduate degree in subjects related to the objectives of the position: graphic design, visual design, social communicator, marketing professional.

Essential professional experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of website design.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of social networks.
  • Experience and knowledge in the creation of internal and external organisational communication strategies.
  • Experience of working with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Experience of working with participatory, systemic and/or adaptive methodologies.
About E-Volunteering

The E-Volunteer programme of Cuso International welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international programme partners and volunteers remotely. E-Volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the added advantage of fitting into a regular weekly schedule without the need for a passport. In addition, for some of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers, so flexibility and patience are a valuable characteristic of e-volunteers.

In addition to increasing Canadians' engagement in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of national partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that promote gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy.

Guardabosques de la Sierra is an association focused on giving value to its cocoa through quality and transformation into derived products. Always attentive to the preservation of regional cocoa trees, immersed in reforestation processes under cocoa agroforestry models, gender equity under the premise of highlighting the values ​​of community, care, solidarity, common good, protection of our associated ethnic communities, recognising the diversity of our territory.
