For this role, we are looking for applicants based in South Africa, and Kenya.


The Job

The Research Lead will provide professional expertise and skills in research methodology, research design, data collection, data analysis, and the interpretation and presentation of research and evaluation results to assist the Tiko Research Department to achieve the organizational strategic goals. This will be achieved by;

 

  • Managing the externally commissioned research partners to ensure that all research activities undertaken on behalf of Tiko are conducted in a timely fashion, in line with the overall aims, values of the organization and with policies and procedures.
  • Designing, executing and implementing research projects that systematically investigate the impact of our platform using quasi-experimental or experimental study designs. 
  • Leading the development of research protocols for submission to Institutional Review Boards (IRB), including development of study instruments and ethics procedures.
  • Supporting other parts of the organization directly on research and analytical questions, in order to remove barriers that stand in the way of impact and development at Tiko. 


About You

You have excellent organizational skills, effectively managing and prioritizing multiple tasks under competing deadlines. You design and implement research programs for bespoke projects, analyze large, complex survey datasets, and communicate findings across various forums. You are committed to contributing significantly to the research environment and producing high-quality research outputs.


Requirements

  • Masters in public health, statistics, or related discipline will be an advantage
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a research focused role
  • Experience in public health, including HIV, SRH, family planning, and mental health
  • Proven qualitative and quantitative skills with proficiency in analysis packages such as STATA, R, and NVivo.
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills in English

The Rewards

At Tiko we believe in being open, also when it comes to salaries. The monthly salary bracket for this position is R51,100 -  R76,700 gross in South Africa, and Ksh300,000 - Ksh450,000 gross in Kenya. We will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
