Job description

Position: Chief of Staff

Location: Remote (US or European time zones preferred)

Salary: $150k - $175k

Our client is a global advertising technology company with a 25-year track record of innovation. With 400+ team members distributed across the globe, they are pioneering a different way of working - one that emphasizes self-organizing teams, minimal hierarchy, and maximum impact.

Their unique approach has resulted in exceptional team retention, with an average tenure of 8.1 years - a testament to their distinctive culture and work environment.

Position Overview:

They are seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief of Staff to help drive organizational innovation and transformation initiatives. This role is fundamentally different from traditional Chief of Staff positions - rather than operating within a hierarchical structure, the individual will work collaboratively across self-organizing teams to implement positive change and drive key initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Head of Company to conceptualize and execute organizational transformation initiatives

  • Drive cross-functional projects that enhance how their teams work together, communicate, and deliver results

  • Lead change management efforts by building relationships and influencing without traditional authority

  • Develop and document clear, compelling communications to articulate strategic initiatives and gather buy-in

  • Help design and implement innovative organizational processes that promote self-organization and accountability

  • Work directly with teams across multiple time zones to understand challenges and implement solutions

  • Take ownership of complex, ambiguous projects and drive them to completion through hands-on execution

Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience, ideally including management consulting background at firms like McKinsey, Bain, or BCG

  • Track record of leading organizational change initiatives through influence rather than authority

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to build trust and relationships at all levels

  • Strategic thinking balanced with strong execution capabilities and hands-on approach

  • Self-motivated with ability to operate independently in ambiguous situations

  • Strong analytical capabilities

  • Hunger to learn and ability to learn on their own

  • Experience working in distributed/remote environments preferred

  • High degree of discretion and excellent judgment

  • Comfort with and enthusiasm for challenging traditional organizational structures

This role is perfect for someone who:
  • Is energized by organizational innovation and transformation

  • Thrives in environments without traditional hierarchy

  • Values impact over titles

  • Enjoys hands-on execution as much as strategic thinking

  • Is passionate about building trust-based relationships to drive change

  • Wants to help pioneer new ways of working in a successful, established company

What They Offer:
  • Compensation: Base salary of $150k - $175k

  • Comprehensive Benefits (varies by country)

  • Unique Perks:

    • Twice-yearly week-long company summits at all-inclusive resorts worldwide

    • Every 4-5 years: 4-5 weeks paid transformational leave

    • Every 5 years: Additional paid week off for the individual and their family to celebrate their tenure

  • Work-Life Integration:

    • Flexible hours to accommodate global collaboration

    • True work-from-anywhere policy (US or European time zones preferred)

    • Focus on outcomes rather than hours worked

    • Strong emphasis on work-life balance

Their Unique Environment
  • Remote-first, globally distributed team

  • Flat organizational structure with emphasis on self-organizing teams

  • No traditional titles or hierarchical reporting relationships

  • Focus on outcomes and impact rather than positions or status

  • Strong emphasis on written communication and documentation
