Job description

Is it time to take a step up on your career ladder? We’re looking for a German-speaking Data Protection Officer to join a small legal team in igaming B2C.

Working within the Legal & Compliance team, you will together manage and mitigate legal risk to the business and provide legal advice to internal stakeholders.

The role is offered on a hybrid/remote basis in Malta, or could be fully remote within the EEA (GDPR) area.

Salary up to €70K

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop & implement policies & procedures to ensure the company complies with GDPR & BDSG
  • Promote a company-wide privacy culture which ensures maintenance of the procedures in place.
  • Provide training to various stakeholders and departments
  • Liaise with authorities, both the GGL and the MGA
  • As the DPO, you are the point of contact for all data protection matters
  • Be very hands-on in establishing and continuously improve the function
  • Provide relevant and accurate advice on possible data privacy issues in commercial areas and marketing
  • Assist with local and international compliance and regulatory issues
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel on jurisdiction-specificmatters
  • Research and evaluate potential risk to the business and its operations
  • Review and revise terms as required for a wide variety of commercial contracts incl. game supplier agreements, PSP agreements, marketing agreements, and NDAs

Education, skills, and experience

  • Qualified lawyer with 1+ year PQE
  • Fluent German-speaker to a native level
  • Big 4 experience would be meriting
  • Experience in iGaming B2C
  • Experience of working as a DPO or with Data Protection as part of your previous / current role
  • Expertise on the GDPR & BDSG
  • Existing good rapport with GGL & MGA officials
  • A proactive self-starter with the ability to manage your own workload and timetable and efficiently handle competing priorities
  • Astute communicator in English, both written & spoken
  • Happy to assist with other tasks in the legal team
