SBA Underwriting Manager - Healthcare

 

United Community is seeking a highly skilled SBA Underwriting Manager - Healthcare. In this role, you will collaborate with Underwriting, Sales, and Construction teams to ensure high credit quality and proper documentation as required by the Lender and the SBA. You will promote the credit culture of United Community Bank, efficiently decide loans, and provide guidance and training to team members. With a strong background in SBA lending and healthcare underwriting, you will ensure regulatory compliance and deliver excellent service to both internal and external customers.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with SBA Healthcare Lending teams to promote the credit culture of United Community Bank.
  • Efficiently decide loans to meet customer expectations.
  • Review and offer recommendations for larger loans above assigned credit authority.
  • Update underwriting policies when appropriate.
  • Act in an advisory role to lenders and underwriters in matters of compliance, regulation, and policy.
  • Provide guidance and training to new team members.
  • Assist in the ongoing training of policies, procedures, and culture.
  • Review and approve all healthcare underwriting conditions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper pre-funding quality control steps are taken.
  • Communicate frequently with all parties involved in transactions in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Effectively manage the process to ensure loan requests are reviewed efficiently, customers receive timely answers, and approved transactions are completed quickly and accurately.
  • Ensure all loans comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of internal healthcare underwriting and healthcare lending guidelines and provide updates as needed.
  • Maintain and apply a thorough understanding of current SOP.
  • Manage SBA underwriters.
  • Perform pre-screens on prospective deals for term sheet approval.
  • Sign documents on behalf of the Bank.
  • Lead or assist with department projects as requested.
  • Deliver excellent service to customers both inside and outside the Bank.
  • Participate and complete all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements for Success:

  • College degree or equivalent; Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in an SBA lending background.
  • Good working knowledge of healthcare-related clients and underwriting practices.
  • Supervisory and managerial experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of legal, documentation, and administrative aspects of government-guaranteed lending.
