Vermont State University seeks a part-time faculty member/instructor to teach a 3-credit course during the Fall 2025 semester, PED-6710, Understanding Mental Health in Athletics. The course will be taught asynchronously online using Canvas. Adherence to the VTSU online template format is required.

POSITION: Part-Time, Asynchronous Instruction for Fall 2025 Semester
RESPONSIBILITIES: VTSU uses Canvas and provides a generic course template for all courses. The instructor is responsible for adding course outcomes, course-appropriate academic materials, and discussion and assignment details that support the course description. Additionally, VTSU online instructors are obligated to adhere to VTSU online standards that address instructor presence, student engagement, instructor expectations, and assessment of student work.

Course description: This course explores the various factors affecting the mental health of student-athletes and other stakeholders within interscholastic and intercollegiate athletic organizations. Factors such as the sport setting, physical injuries, current topics, and existing mental health systems, among others, will be examined. Basic design and implementation of mental health support programs will be discussed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field, Doctorate preferred
- Relevant field experience amounting to no less than five years
