This role is responsible for maximizing the growth of volume and gross margin for the product group(s) in the portfolio, working in conjunction with suppliers and the M. Holland Sales Team. Responsibilities include developing and implementing long-term supply strategies, building relationships with key suppliers, negotiating supply agreements, creating and maintaining price guides for Sales, and working with Supply Chain to provide market-driven guidance re. inventory management, generation of supplier forecasts, and packaging strategy. This role can be performed from a home office based in the United States and will require regular overnight travel.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
Lead the development of portfolio strategies, with the support of Sales Management, which meet both M. Holland Company and Supplier growth goals.
Establish and grow volumes in alignment with objectives of the portfolio’s strategic suppliers.
Optimize the balance across product slates, sales volumes, sales prices, gross margin per pound and inventory to generate the best possible return on the company’s investment in the portfolio.
Monitor market price trends to ensure market competitiveness.
Leverage M. Holland’s exceptional technology platform to drive market share expansion through innovative and creative sales and product solutions.
Differentiate M. Holland as the preferred Distribution channel for our Supplier partners by meeting supplier growth goals and developing deep and sustainable relationships.
Achieve portfolio annual budget goals for both revenue and profits.
In conjunction with Sales & Business Development, establish a value-driven presence with key customer accounts.
Work with Supply Chain and Sales to effectively limit / reduce slow moving and obsolete inventory.
Effectively use MHC’s CRM system to support Account Managers in developing a pipeline of prospects and new business development opportunities.
Partner with Marketing Communications to develop sales and marketing tools which enable Account Managers to communicate M. Holland’s value proposition.
Attend industry-sponsored trade shows and cultivate a robust network in relevant industry associations.
Manage significant entertainment and travel budget with portfolio suppliers.
Competencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA)

Account Management, Business Development, Market Development, Market and/or Purchasing Management experience; preferably within Distribution or Supplier organizations.
Experience in a matrixed commercial organization.
Willingness to travel extensively, including some international travel.
Track record of identifying and presenting innovative and creative solutions.
Preferred sourcing experience including, but not limited to, negotiating supply agreements, price guide development and maintenance, inventory management, delivered costing analysis, material requirements forecasting, market trend monitoring, management and control of demurrage and track storage costs, and packaging strategies development.
Ability to achieve goals by influencing and inspiring others by via highly developed sales and negotiation skills.
