Job description

Description

At Shutterfly, we make life’s experiences unforgettable. We believe there is extraordinary power in the self-expression. That’s why our family of brands helps customers create products and capture moments that reflect who they uniquely are.

As a Senior Analyst for Applied Marketing Science, you will play a key role in our centralized data analytics community, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnership among analysts and data scientists. Working closely with Performance Marketing stakeholders, particularly in paid digital channels, you will focus on identifying critical metrics and insights that drive profitability and growth. Additionally, you will contribute to spend optimization efforts, ensuring that budgets are allocated efficiently to maximize performance and establish our team as a leading force in data-driven decision-making.

What You Will Do Here:
  • Develop and leverage advanced econometric time series models (e.g., Bayesian structural time series) to quantify marketing effectiveness, optimize spend elasticity, and drive strategic decisions for paid media channels.
  • Design and measure lift test to evaluate paid media incrementality. Optimize budget mix, refine targeting, and assess marginal ROAS, driving campaign efficiency and growth.
  • Develop and refine forecasting models for media channels, incorporating spend elasticity, break-even, and seasonality adjustments to enhance accuracy and optimize spend.
  • Solve complex measurement and data integration challenges, defining analytical approaches, transforming data, and delivering actionable insights.
  • Serve as an internal consultant on paid media strategy, providing insights into performance, ROI, and LTV-to-CAC, while tracking competitive trends.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships, driving success in data-driven initiatives. Foster data literacy, mentor analysts, and lead thought leadership in analytics.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels to ensure successful data-driven initiatives. Foster data literacy and create a positive learning environment. Actively mentoring junior analysts and providing guidance and thought leadership.
 The Skills You Will Bring:
  • 5-7 years of experience in a data-driven role with a strategic focus on solving marketing challenges using advanced analytics techniques.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking ability. You enjoy being a detective who doesn’t take unexpected results or attribution results at face value. Ask questions, build hypothesis, and validate from various data sources and data granularity.
  • Expertise in forecasting, budget optimization, and experiment design, including spend elasticity, break-even analysis, and incrementality testing to optimize media spend and assess marginal ROAS.
  • Working knowledge of media platform advanced measurement such as lift study and attribution setting. Hands on experience with attribution models (multi-touch, last touch, agile mixed model) development and validation.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel, with experience using Python/R for statistical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce and performance marketing metrics, including ROI, LTV-to-CAC, and competitive trend tracking.
  • Skilled in data integration, measurement, and transforming complex data into actionable insights.
  • Self-starter with a keen eye for detail, capable of independently validating and cross-checking data.
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in quantitative field
