Job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Title Examiner to join our team. This role involves conducting thorough title searches, analyzing property records, and preparing reports to ensure clear property ownership. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of title insurance, real estate transactions, and public records research.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine public records, legal documents, and title abstracts to determine property ownership and identify any encumbrances, liens, or restrictions.
  • Research and verify the accuracy of property titles, including chain of ownership, easements, and legal descriptions.
  • Prepare comprehensive title reports and issue title commitments in compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Communicate with attorneys, lenders, underwriters, and other stakeholders to resolve title issues and discrepancies.
  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal regulations related to title examination and real estate transactions.
  • Assist in clearing title defects by gathering missing documentation, correcting errors, and coordinating with necessary parties.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Title Examiner, Title Abstractor, or in a related title research role.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate law, title insurance policies, and public records research.
  • Proficiency in title examination software and industry tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with residential and commercial properties.
  • Familiarity with local and state-specific title laws and regulations.
  • Certification in title examination or related field is a plus.
