Job description

Programme Officer - Asia Region

This role presents an exciting opportunity for individuals based in Asia. There will be a greater focus on programmatic issues the main role of the Programme Officer is:

  • Full project cycle management
  • Supporting partners in the countries to develop, implement and report on projects
  • Fundraising experience and donor engagement is a nice to have
  • The role would also require travel to different countries in Asia. Could involve visits to Cambodia, visits to partners based in Chiang Mai/Mae Sot supporting a project in Burma & other countries as required

Experience and Skills

  • Masters degree in social or natural sciences, law, business, economics, international development, or related fields
  • 8+ years demonstrated experience in working on issues related to land tenure, natural resources management and/or Indigenous Peoples and local communities rights (preference will be candidates with experience across these topics)
  • 5+ years of experience working in Asia, preferably on issues related to local communities and land tenure rights
  • Demonstrated experience of project cycle management, including monitoring and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form productive working relationships quickly with a wide range of internal colleagues across all units as well as partners and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change work practices and hours to accommodate shifting demands.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages spoken in Cambodia and Myanmar is a plus
  • Must be able to travel and have flexibility in travel dates (to suit partners), good internet connection to work remotely, prepared to do required administration tasks as part of PO position.
