Role Summary:
The primary role of the Legal Counsel will be to support the SVP, Legal in managing GTT’s regulatory compliance obligations related to the FCC and Team Telecom. The Legal Counsel will also be asked to support on other matters as needed, which could include corporate, litigation, IP, HR, security and privacy.
Job Scope/Supervision:
The Legal Counsel will work with the SVP, Legal and VP, Risk and Compliance in supporting compliance with key regulatory compliance obligations. The role will be an individual contributor role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support management of regulatory compliance requirements, in particular FCC and Team Telecom obligations
- Comply with and help to ensure the compliance of others with GTT policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations
- Provide legal advice and input that is accurate, understandable and focused, and provided in an efficient manner
- Work proactively and closely with your colleagues within and outside of the legal department
- Subject to approval, instruct external counsel in cost effective manner to provide and procure sound legal advice
- Act ethically and responsibly in all dealings with GTT colleagues and with third parties
- Ad hoc duties as required
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience in telecommunications, ideally at a regulator or a comparable organization
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and be a member or in good standing of at least one state bar organization
- 4+ years of relevant legal experience
Desirable Experience/Qualifications
- Experience managing regulatory compliance
- Team Telecom or other Federal Government regulatory experience.
- Technical expertise in telecommunications, networking and/or security
Hours/Travel/Shift:
Standard work week. Travel is minimal and is generally planned in advance.
