Director/Sr. Director, Digital Transformation

We are seeking a senior Digital Transformation expert to lead strategic data initiatives and drive measurable business performance improvements across a diverse range of industries. In this role, you will partner closely with clients from C-Suite executives to front-line operators to develop and implement transformative data strategies that leverage modern data tools and advanced analytics, including Generative AI.

 

While deep technical expertise in data and analytics is essential, the role is primarily focused on strategic business and operational performance, advising clients and guiding internal teams of and generalist consultants and data/analytics specialists.

Reporting to Principal, Applied Solutions, and an integral member of our Solutions COE, and data science team. 

 

What you’ll do:

 

Engagement Leadership 

  • Lead consulting engagements with top-tier clients in insurance, financial services, and other industries. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment of data initiatives with overarching business strategies and objectives.

Strategic Data Transformation

  • Define data transformation strategies, roadmaps, and architectures to modernize data ecosystems. 
  • Advise on best-in-class data platforms, tools, and technologies to enable advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.

Business Performance Improvement 

  • Drive measurable improvements in revenue, cost optimization, risk management, and customer experience through data and analytics solutions. 
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to track the success of transformation initiatives.

Advanced Analytics & Data Science 

  • Collaborate with data scientists and analytics teams to ensure models and algorithms align with business requirements. 
  • Stay current with AI/ML trends, especially Generative AI and Agentic and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) flows, to advise on cutting-edge applications that unlock new opportunities for clients.

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and mentor cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts. 
  • Provide thought leadership and executive-level communication on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Thought Leadership & Innovation 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on modern data and analytics technologies, influencing the broader market perspective.
  • Participate in industry events, workshops, and conferences to showcase expertise and build brand recognition.
  • Internal leadership in building capabilities and adoption of modern data and (Gen)AI tools and techniques

What you need:

 

Industry Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data leadership roles
  • Demonstrated success leading data transformations in P&C insurance, life insurance, banking, or wealth management
  • Cross-industry experience applying data transformation principles in retail, healthcare, manufacturing, etc.
  • Track record of navigating complex regulatory environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOX, Basel III) while driving innovation

Business Impact

  • Experience reducing operational costs through data-driven process optimization
  • History of implementing data quality programs
  • Success stories of enabling new product development through innovative data utilization

Technical Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of data architecture patterns, data governance frameworks, and data quality methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of modern data stack components: data integration, storage, processing, and visualization
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and their optimal use cases
  • Understanding of data science lifecycle and methodologies without necessarily being hands-on
  • Knowledge of generative AI applications in document processing, content generation, and decision support

Leadership & Communication

  • Experience presenting to boards of directors and executive committees
  • Proven ability to translate technical concepts for C-Suite executives
  • Track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority
  • History of developing data literacy programs that increased organizational capabilities
  • Success mentoring technical teams and developing future data leaders

 

SSA & Company provides a competitive salary range for our open requisitions. Actual salary is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, and other business and organizational needs. The range of starting annual salary for this role is $175,000-$325,000. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for performance-based incentives and a competitive benefits package.
