Description

Kentucky State Police is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Primary Role: As a member of the Kentucky State Police Information Technology Branch, you will be responsible for conducting compliance audits for Information Technology Security as it relates to the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) network, including the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) and Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) to ensure compliance with federal, and state laws, rules, and regulations.

Base Location: A vehicle, clothing allowance, cell phone, and computer will be issued, and the main work location will be the individual's home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Compliance Audits for Information Technology Security for all criminal justice agencies in the Commonwealth that have access to NCIC, including mobile data terminals (MDTs)
  • Conduct Compliance Audits for all noncriminal justice agencies that access fingerprint results from CHRI for employment per state statutes and federal laws.
  • Conducts on-site training for Local Agency Security Officers (LASO) and any Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) or Point of Contact for agencies' technical and physical security policies.
  • Assist the CJIS Compliance Supervisor with updating Technical Security training, manuals, and policies and writing recommendations to improve the operation of all CJIS Systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Will report to the CJIS Compliance Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of law enforcement, criminal justice or law enforcement telecommunications experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional college will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in law enforcement/criminal justice or law enforcement telecommunications will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Pursuant to the CJIS security policy, applicant shall not have been convicted of any felony crimes. Must attend and successfully complete the CJIS full access terminal operator course administered by the Department of Criminal Justice Training within the first six months of employment.

Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
