The department seeks to hire a smart, experienced, hardworking and dependable Child Nutrition Program Consultant to join our dedicated team.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct administrative and procurement compliance reviews for program sponsors of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program to ensure compliance with program regulations.
  • Provide consultative services (training and technical assistance) to child nutrition program sponsors.
  • Attend staff meetings and other professional development meetings.
  • Evaluate and approve sponsor applications for program participation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment is given.

In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in education, education administration, food service administration, nutrition, home economics or a related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of professional experience in education administration, vocational education, food service administration, business administration, nutrition education, social work, family therapy, and/or financial auditing/monitoring or a related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree OR current certification as a Registered Dietician will substitute for two years of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required education OR additional professional experience in education administration, vocational education, food service administration, business administration, nutrition education, social work, family therapy, and/or financial auditing/monitoring or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel is typically required.
