Job description

This is a remote position.

Job Highlights:

Contract: Independent Contractor

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday; 10am to 6:00pm New Zealand Time with 1 hour paid break

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team remotely. The role focuses on estimating, checking and detailing project before and after site measure, and presenting aluminum window and door estimates and bespoke solutions specific to each project whilst ensuring accuracy in cost calculations and architectural specifications. The ideal candidate will be solution focused and an expert in Softech’s V6 software, analyzing architectural drawings, and cross-referencing with supplier specification guidelines for seamless project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Cost Management:
  • Utilize Softtech V6 software for precise estimation and quantity take-offs preparing accurate Schedule of Works for required for aluminum window and door projects.
  • Prepare detailed breakdowns and customized options for each specific project and tender submissions in line with company standards.
  • Generate accurate reports, material schedules, and project documentation using Softtech V6.
  • Update details from the measure on site to form the actual schedule of work from which to order and manufacture from
  • Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure budget adherence and identify potential savings.
  • Conduct value engineering to provide cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Architectural Detailing & Drawing Interpretation:
  • Analyze architectural drawings and plans to determine design intent, material requirements, and potential challenges.
  • Develop detailed architectural specifications and technical drawings for window and door systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy of product specifications and dimensions in alignment with project requirements.
  • Cross-reference architectural drawings with supplier guidelines to guarantee consistency and compliance.
  • Proficient in CAD and DWG drawing software to detail aspects of the projects
Supplier & Client Communication:
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain material costs, specifications, and lead times, ensuring project requirements are met.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Builders and Clients to ensure project designs align with their needs, offering advice on design alternatives if necessary.
  • Provide support during client presentations, offering technical details and clarifications as needed.
  • Coordinate with the project team to address any discrepancies or issues during the project’s lifecycle.
Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Ensure that all designs and estimations comply with local and international standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Conduct cross-referencing of supplier specifications with architectural and project drawings to avoid errors and misalignments.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in estimating and project management for aluminium window and door systems.
  • Grand Master in using Softtech V6 software (essential).
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawings and technical specifications for window and door systems.
  • Experience in cross-referencing supplier specifications with project requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with remote teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand construction standards and regulations (preferred).
