If you thrive on elevating brand visibility, deftly handling crisis communications, and forging influential relationships across multiple sectors, this role is for you.

The Impact You Will Have in This Role:

Your work directly influences how customers, investors, and the market perceive J.D. Power. By strengthening and maintaining our brand reputation, you will help fuel trust in our company’s expertise and shape the conversation about our role in the automotive ecosystem and beyond.

What You'll Be Doing in This Role:

Corporate Communications & Media Relations

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive PR strategy aligned with J.D. Power’s corporate goals.
  • Serve as our spokesperson, managing both proactive and reactive media engagement.
  • Leverage your existing network of media relationships to generate high-value coverage in automotive, business, and technology outlets.
  • Oversee press releases, pitches, and corporate messaging to position J.D. Power as an industry leader.
  • Monitor industry trends and lead crisis communications to safeguard the company’s reputation.
  • Collaborate with PR agencies and business divisions to fulfill media inquiries and requests efficiently.
  • Write and distribute press releases and other materials as needed.
  • Establish style guides and brand voice for all external and internal communications.

Internal Communications & Executive Messaging

  • Partner with executives and business units to craft compelling messages that reinforce corporate objectives.
  • Develop internal communication strategies aimed at boosting employee engagement and alignment.
  • Prepare talking points, speeches, and thought leadership content for senior leaders (i.e. media training).
  • Consult with executive management to establish effective procedures for crisis and high-stakes communications.
  • Draft letters, memos, and official correspondence to ensure consistent internal messaging.
  • Provide coaching to teams on communication best practices.

Content Development & Social Media Strategy

  • Oversee corporate storytelling through press releases, blog posts, and op-eds.
  • Align social media messaging with broader PR efforts for a consistent brand voice.
  • Manage video production and digital content initiatives to amplify key messages.

Public Affairs & Industry Thought Leadership

  • Represent J.D. Power at industry conferences, media events, and trade shows.
  • Position the company as an innovator in the automotive sector and other markets.
  • Cultivate relationships with trade associations, government bodies, and advocacy groups.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement media monitoring tools to track coverage, sentiment, and brand perception.
  • Analyze campaign performance and refine strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Deliver quarterly reports to executive leadership summarizing PR impact and identifying opportunities.

Qualifications of this Role:

  • 10–15 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, and/or media relations, with at least 5 years in the automotive industry.
  • Proven, pre-existing media connections in automotive, business, and technology sectors—your network should be ready to engage from day one.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crisis communication, reputation management, and strategic messaging.
  • Outstanding writing, storytelling, and speechwriting skills to captivate both internal and external audiences.
  • Experience working with senior executives and navigating complex corporate structures.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, adapting to shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • History of leading cross-functional teams and managing external PR agencies.
  • Strong background in social media engagement, digital PR, and multimedia content creation.
  • Knowledge of public affairs, government relations, and regulatory communications is a plus.
  • Proven ability to inspire and mentor teams toward common goals.
  • Strategic alignment of corporate messaging with business objectives.
  • Skill in measuring and optimizing PR effectiveness using data and metrics.
  • Unwavering commitment to integrity in all communications and interactions, ensuring credibility and trust among stakeholders.
