Job description

The Global Customs and Excise Compliance Lead will support the Global Customs & Excise Manager in providing guidance and support on customs and excise matters across the organization’s global operations. This role involves leading compliance initiatives, advising on international projects, and collaborating with local affiliates in navigating complex customs and excise frameworks. The role will also involve a significant focus on coordinating the detailed design and assisting with the implementation of a global ERP system to integrate customs and excise compliance processes across the organization.

Your key missions

You will work on ERP System Design and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and technology teams to incorporate customs and excise compliance requirements into the global ERP system general design.
  • Support process owners during detailed design for all ERP processes involving customs and excise inputs/outputs.
  • Lead the detailed design for ERP processes specific to excise and customs requirements, ensuring alignment with global standards.
  • Collaborate with the technology team and local affiliates to implement excise and customs processes in the ERP system.
  • Assist in mapping and documenting compliance workflows and ensuring alignment with global standards.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during system testing, rollout, and implementation phases.
  • Train and support local affiliates on the ERP system’s compliance functionalities.

You will oversee Data Management and Monitoring:

  • Review and maintain all global master data related to customs and excise requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor changes in global and local legislation to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will be in charge of regulatory Compliance Oversight:

  • Support Global Customs & Excise Manager with monitoring changes in global customs and excise regulations, assessing their impact on the organization’s operations.

You will participate in global projects:

  • Provide input on the classification, valuation, and duty/tax implications of goods in global projects.
  • Assess impact of trade agreements and duty relief schemes to support cost savings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the design, assessment, and implementation of global projects involving indirect tax matters.
  • Promote the integration of excise and customs considerations into global initiatives, including supply chain and business expansion projects.

You will provide trainings and Capacity Building:

  • Support roll-out of internal training programs on customs and excise compliance for global and local teams.
  • Prepare regular business updates and development opportunities

You will support risk Management and Audits:

  • Support local teams in resolving issues arising from inspections or audits by regulatory authorities.
  • Support Internal Auditors with annual audit program

You will be in charge of reporting and Analytics:

  • Develop and maintain a global dashboard for customs and excise compliance metrics.
  • Provide regular updates on compliance status, risks, and opportunities.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Law, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is advantageous.
  • You have a minimum 5 years of experience in customs and excise compliance.
  • You have working knowledge of detailed analysis of trade compliance matter.
  • You have deep knowledge of customs procedures, trade regulations, and excise duties.
  • You have experience in ERP system implementation or process integration is essential.
  • Experienced SAP user is highly desirable.
