Job description

As an Insurance Underwriter, you will assess risks and determine policy terms for individuals and businesses seeking insurance coverage.

Some of your responsibilities are but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate insurance applications and assess risk factors to determine appropriate coverage terms, premiums, and policy limits.
  • Analyze and interpret data from various sources, including financial statements, medical records, and industry reports, to evaluate risk.
  • Develop and recommend underwriting guidelines based on industry standards and company policies.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers, and clients to clarify details of applications and provide explanations regarding coverage and premium decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including claims adjusters and actuarial staff, to review and evaluate potential risks.
  • Make decisions on policy approvals, rejections, or modifications based on risk assessments.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging risks to adjust underwriting practices accordingly.
  • Assist in resolving customer inquiries and complaints regarding underwriting decisions.
  • Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and related documentation.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 1 year experience in underwriting or a similar role in the insurance industry.
  • Language: Very good English skills. B2+ or higher is preferred.

  • Schedule: Must be flexible and is willing to be assigned in any shift. Work schedule will follow the American Calendar.
