Business Development Manager - Utilities

Location National with visits to Arqiva sites as and when required

The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of Arqiva. You will be responsible for developing new customer relationships and cross selling new products to existing accounts and growing new product lines and delivering the forecast budget. The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, along with a strong understanding of the industry and market trends and a focus on customer requirements.

The role

  • Engage named prospect accounts and work in conjunction with customer management team to cross sell products into prospect and existing accounts across utility customers (approx. 5 customers)
  • Establish, maintain and grow a broad set of contacts from C-Suite down to operational levels and across all functions
  • Develop, maintain and communicate an intimate knowledge of those customers
  • Develop proposals and respond to bids, ensuring they are meeting the customer requirements and are compelling on Why Arqiva
  • Create detailed pursuit plans that outline the approach, winning plan, resource and timeline for each opportunity
  • Collaborate with the sales team and matrix organisation to create compelling proposals and presentations
  • Develop and maintain pipeline of opportunities that meet or exceed the targets set
  • Negotiate and execute new contracts with new customers by engaging and leading internal bid teams
  • Capture and feedback customer requirements to Strategy, Product and Service Excellence. Engage proactively with these teams to influence the product roadmaps to meet customers need
  • Reporting Ensure CRM system is maintained and up to date using Arqiva sales methodology
  • Work closely with the marketing team to align sales and marketing efforts
  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of key competitors
  • Work in collaboration with sales, marketing, product and other internal teams to ensure alignment and support for pursuit activities
  • Attend relevant industry events to ensure current market knowledge

The person

  • Extensive knowledge of sales - Direct B2B solution sales in an OJEU environment (experience in IoT and utility vertical)
  • Experience of CRM systems in a structure sales and business development environment
  • Proven track record in achieving targets, negotiating contracts and successfully selling through OJEU process
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Proficient in analysing data and making data driven decisions
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of business principles and practices
  • Ability to lead matrix internal team to achieve common goals
  • Comfortable creating and presenting updates and solutions to the customer up to and including C-Suite
  • Strong focus on achieving results and delivering value to clients and the organisation
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and negotiating contracts
  • Must have good interpersonal skills when dealing with Arqiva, customers and third parties up to and including C-Suite
  • Good Microsoft Office skills to generate presentations and business cases
  • Clear understanding of the need of good customer service
