We are looking for an intern to join our Assessment team in a remote position located anywhere in the US! Candidates should be available for 12 months in a full-time capacity and ready to start Spring 2025.  


As an intern at DDI, you will be exposed to a wide range of projects in both traditional I/O areas and emerging technologies. We are committed to developing our interns and offer a rich preview of the life of an I/O practitioner. Our internships offer substantive experience. We promise challenging and meaningful projects for you to contribute to and learn from, as you will have opportunities to stretch your skills and enrich your knowledge base.  

You will have a unique opportunity to work within two distinct, yet related areas on the Assessment team. Whereas one area focuses on designing and validating more traditional I/O assessments, the other area researches and applies innovative methodologies (e.g., machine learning models) for application in measurement-based products and services. More detailed information will be provided during the interview process. 

Here are some examples of previous interns’ projects: 

  • Automating an assessment scoring and report delivery pipeline. 
  • Researching and developing brief assessments for use in learning and development courses. 
  • Researching and experimenting with innovative methods for leadership tests, simulations, and assessments. 
  • Evaluating, documenting, and giving a company-wide presentation on test and assessment subgroup differences. 
  • Creating new scoring paradigms using advanced ML and NLP algorithms. 
  • Conducting normative and validation studies of newly designed test and assessment solutions. 
Requirements
  • Advanced graduate study in a doctoral Industrial-Organizational Psychology program or a related field. ABD preferred. 
  • Capability in research design and statistical analysis, including experience working with, manipulating, and merging large/complex datasets using a variety of analytic tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python). 
  • Foundational knowledge in measurement and test development?procedures. 
  • Strong technical writing abilities. 
  • Experience partnering in cross-functional projects and teams. 
  • Strong communication skills suitable for interactions with clients and internal stakeholders. 
  • Strong planning and organizing skills, attention to detail, innovative thinking, collaboration, and initiative. 

What Sets You Apart (Not All Are Required):  

  • Advanced R programming. 
  • Python programming.  
  • Data visualization experience. 
  • Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory. 
  • Hands-on experience conceptualizing, designing, prototyping, and implementing assessments in real-world applications. 
  • Use of advanced analytic techniques such as ML-based modeling, NLP, or SEM. 
  • Experience using Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) and their APIs to create content, automate workflows, and/or enhance assessment development.
