Job description

Holman has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager – Database Development Admin to join the team.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Gather and assess business requirements from stakeholders to ensure that database systems meet operational needs and facilitate decision-making.
  • Oversee the development of database solutions (e.g. stored procedures, triggers, web services) to support data consumers
  • Utilize modern database management systems (DBMS) , and cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL), to support business applications and services.
  • Work with software development, data engineering, and IT operations teams to integrate databases with applications and ensure data consistency, availability, and performance.
  • Ensure database systems comply with relevant security regulations (e.g., GDPR) and industry standards for data privacy and integrity.
  • Use database performance monitoring tools and techniques to optimize query performance, system resources, and reliability.
  • Lead and mentor a team of database administrators and developers, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
  • Work closely with other IT managers and business stakeholders to coordinate database-related projects and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise in database design, development, and optimization to support various applications and systems.
  • Manage relationships with database software vendors and service providers to ensure timely support and delivery of services.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or similar roles in a complex, data-driven environment.
  • Proven experience in creating data models for analytical purposes, including OLAP cubes, star schema, snowflake schema, and data warehouses.
  • Experience with relational, NoSQL, and cloud-based databases.
  • Solid experience working with business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical data models and solutions.
  • Strong background in data integration, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and managing large datasets.

Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar are highly desirable.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development to stay current with the latest database technologies and best practices.

Pay:

We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $112,160.00 - $176,645.00 USD annually for full time employees. The annual compensation range is comprised of base pay and bonus earnings.
