Senior Backend Engineer, Product & Engineering

This role reports to VP of Engineering

Overview of the job

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be working within the Product & Engineering team. Working in a flat structure, adopting a 2 week sprint practice, you will have the opportunity to work & lead on multiple greenfield & brownfield projects.

Measures of success –

In the first few months, you would have:

• In 1 month achieve a good understanding of the product and be able to fix small features or bugs with assistance from your team colleagues

• In 2 months you should be able to build and break up a mid size feature fairly independently and take it to production

• In 3 months you should be able to take up larger epics and break it up into smaller features that can be assigned to your colleagues and work with them to deliver it to production as a feature lead.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Build reusable, testable Backend code for our v2 platform

• Take ownership of the Backend development

• Able to occasionally support Frontend Engineers with some changes

• Document technical decisions and approaches

• Reviewing code and providing mentorship to other members of the team

• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

What you will need:

• 5+ years of experience with Node.js

• Experience building Microservices architecture

• Working experience with React.js - confident enough to unblock problems

• Strong knowledge of Typescript

• Working experience with Postgres, GraphQL (Apollo Federation would be a plus)

• Experience in developing and scaling server applications in AWS ecosystem

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Great team player with excellent communication skills and work ethic.

• At least Upper-Intermediate English level (verbal and written)

Would be a plus if you have:

• Understanding and experience with event-driven architecture

• Proactive position in architecture preparation, solution development, processes improvements

• GraphAPI or other social network APIs (TikTok, Twitter)

• Advanced English level

• Mentoring experience
