Position Overview:
We are looking for a client-focused Underwriter to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for underwriting new business, servicing accounts, and helping our retail agent network effectively navigate WestPac’s Online Marketplace. Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Knowledge & Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of WestPac’s Online Marketplace products and capabilities, understanding how they integrate into the commercial insurance marketplace.
  • Underwriting: Underwrite new business through WestPac’s Online Marketplace, ensuring accurate, efficient processes.
  • Quote Review: Review quote queues via the online platform, advising retail agents on the most effective placement of quotes.
  • Cross-functional Support: Provide support to Brokers, Underwriters and Account Managers as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Account Service: Handle day-to-day account service activities, including inquiries, endorsements, and issue resolution in a timely manner.
  • Agent Training: Provide training to retail agents on effectively using the online marketplace’s various raters and tools.
  • System Proficiency: Complete workflow tasks in the portal and our agency management system accurately and efficiently, ensuring high standards of product excellence.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain positive and professional relationships with both agency and carrier contacts.
  • Marketing: Assist the Business Development team to actively solicit submissions for new business.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional functions as assigned by management to support the department and business growth.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Insurance industry experience with a preference for commercial insurance underwriting/marketing experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey professionalism both internally and externally.
  • Detail-Oriented: Resourceful, with critical thinking abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Positive Attitude: Ability to engage positively with various office personalities.
  • Adaptability: Flexible to changes in processes and procedures.
  • Technical Proficiency: Above-average computer skills with familiarity in relevant software.
  • Team Player: Values collaboration and appreciates constructive feedback.
  • Licensing: Active Property and Casualty Producer License preferred.
  • Availability: Willingness to work regular core hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
