We are looking for a Senior Director-level analyst and thought leader to join our highly collaborative and diverse team who is passionate about helping our clients leverage automation technologies and platforms to support enterprise application strategy and application integration. Analysts produce research that answers the most pressing questions for IT Leaders across a number of industries. An analyst is an articulate thought-leader as well as an inquisitive student who enjoys continually learning. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with numerous automation technologies and platforms (e.g., robotic process automation, business process automation, and AI driven automation) and a vision for the future automation and the evolution of the business orchestration and automation technologies market.
What you'll do:
- Develop thought leading research on business orchestration and automation technologies.
- Work with clients on strategic and tactical automation technology challenges.
- Deliver presentations at Gartner events, including Summits, and Symposia.
- Work with major robotic processing automation (RPA), business process automation (BPA) platforms and AI driven automation and low code application providers on product and industry direction.
- Attain industry leadership by responding to press inquiries and speaking at industry events.
- Support Gartner sales with proof of concepts and consultation on becoming a Gartner client and how we can help them with their automation technology and platform decisions.
- Contribute to research and agenda planning.
Who you are:
- We are seeking an experienced automation professional who has knowledge across a variety of automation platforms and industries. Qualified candidates should demonstrate expertise in the following areas:
- Subject matter expertise in RPA and BPA. Knowledge of the RPA and BPA market and vendor landscape, and the competitive interplay between established vendors, emerging providers, disruptors and industry partnerships. Demonstrated understanding of RPA and BPA applications and opportunities in that market.
- A broader understanding of the automation market beyond RPA, including BPA, workflow orchestration tools, business rules engines, AI driven technologies, low code and no code application development platforms.
- Creating an automation strategy with practical steps for the implementation of RPA and BPA.
- Practical insights on security and governance of automation including establishing an automation COE.
- Knowledge and experience with RPA platforms from major vendors such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, SS&C Blue Prism and Microsoft preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with BPA platforms from major vendors such as Appian, Pegasystems, IBM, and Nintex.
- A working knowledge of at least 1-2 tools from RPA and BPA or low code application market (LCAP) market.
- Exposure to popular agentic AI capabilities/tools from different vendor ( e.g. Microsoft copilot Studio and or Salesforce’s Agentforce) is a plus.
- Ability to develop thought leadership on he evolution of business orchestration and automation technologies (BOAT).
- Preferably have some basic understanding of the Generative AI trends, Large Language Models and Prompt Engineering.
- Some high-level understanding of the integration technologies including roles of APIs in automation.
- Experience in comparing vendor capabilities (strengths and challenges) and preparing a shortlist vendors. Was responsible for vendor selection or at least had the opportunity to influence the decision making process.
- Experience in developing a framework or strategy/roadmap for technology investment.
- Experience or idea in governance of enterprise-wide automation initiatives. Either led an automation COE or worked with them.
What you'll need:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in a research or technology related role
- Candidates may come from an end user environment, software vendor in the product team, implementation partner, and/or a consulting background in this space.
- Excellent writing and research skills, coupled with strong analytical skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable).
