Job description

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing exceptional client service in the energy utilities industry through various multi-discipline projects, such as financial planning, cost of service, rate design, and related services. This client facing role will be responsible for business development, partnering with clients to provide solutions, and leading our emerging energy financial consulting practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the expansion of Raftelis’ energy financial consulting practice
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for energy financial consulting engagements
  • Participate in business development and marketing activities, including but not limited to:
    • Develop tailored proposals in response to competitive RFPs for electric and gas utilities
    • Join national professional associations to understand resources, make connections, and build relationships
    • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and forums to stay current with trends and opportunities
    • Collaborate with other Raftelis employees to understand and pursue cross selling opportunities
    • Conduct research on industry trends, market demands, and competitor analysis
  • Manage client engagements by fostering key partnerships with clients, leading and expanding the team and providing excellent service.
  • Analyze and implement industry’s best practices based on experience and research of market trends
  • Share expertise and skills to enhance the team's knowledge and capabilities
  • Deliver results in public settings to citizen community meetings, City Council/Board of Directors, and other interested stakeholders

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience managing consulting projects for electric and gas utility clients, with a proven track record in leading an established practice and/or developing a new practice
  • Track record of business development and exceeding sales targets
  • Rate consulting experience
  • Experience working in public sector finance, public sector energy industry, or Investor Owned Utilities
  • Critical and strategic thinking skills – the ability to formulate multiple solutions to problems, test hypotheses, and develop solutions based on analysis and client goals
  • Strong team-building skills, with a focus on fostering and maintaining Raftelis' work culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing and able to travel overnight as needed

The salary range for this position is $150k to $250k. Compensation depends on experience. Employees in this may be eligible for an annual performance bonus depending on the firm’s yearly performance and the performance of the employee. Such bonuses are not guaranteed and are at the discretion of the firm.
