Job description

The Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of the Networking and Security Technologies. These systems include physical, virtual, and cloud-based technologies. The role focuses on optimizing uptime, performance, resource allocation, and security to meet and exceed organizational needs. Additionally, the Network Engineer proactively analyzes existing systems and applications and provides recommendations for improvements and remediation for network shortcomings.

Your Impact:

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Implement and manage network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, breaches, and other vulnerabilities
  • Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration guides, and policies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network requirements for various projects and initiatives
  • Perform network capacity planning and optimization to meet future business needs
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in network technologies and best practices
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner

Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • 3-5 years minimum of experience network implementations, diagramming, code updating and firmware patching, project planning, and management of third party vendors.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or equivelent experience.
  • Fortinet certifications (NSE4 or higher)
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA or higher)
  • Industry standard network monitoring and management tools.
  • Network protocols: BGP, Static Routing, SD-WAN, OSPF, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Experience with SASE solutions
  • Fortinet Technologies: Demonstrated expertise in configuring and managing Fortinet devices, including FortiGate Firewalls, FortiWiFi, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer. Proficient in designing and implementing security policies to protect network resources and ensure secure application deployment. Knowledgeable in advanced Fortinet features such as SSL VPN, IPSec VPN, and high availability configurations. Experienced in utilizing Fortinet tools and platforms for centralized firewall management, log analysis, and reporting. Stay updated with the latest Fortinet technologies and best practices, and provide recommendations for optimizing network security and performance using Fortinet solutions.
  • Azure Networking: Proficient in Azure networking services, including virtual networks (VNets), subnets, and network security groups (NSGs). Strong understanding of Azure ExpressRoute and VPN gateways, as well as Azure Load Balancer and Traffic Manager for achieving high availability and scalability. Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing secure network architectures in Azure, including network security best practices such as network segmentation and secure connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments. Proficient in troubleshooting network connectivity issues and optimizing network performance in Azure. Stay up to date with the latest Azure networking features and capabilities, and proactively evaluate and recommend the adoption of new technologies to improve network efficiency and security in Azure environments.
  • Cisco Technologies: Demonstrated proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, including experience in switch deployment, patching, and configuration management. Strong understanding of Cisco IOS and NX-OS operating systems. Knowledgeable in implementing and optimizing VLANs, spanning tree protocols, and link aggregation for efficient network connectivity. Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving network issues using Cisco diagnostic tools and commands.
  • Vulnerability Remediation: Possesses expert knowledge in effectively identifying and addressing vulnerabilities within network appliances.
  • ServiceNow or relevant CMDB: Must have experience with change management and incident handling practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, an understanding of incident priorities and resolution.
  • Network Monitoring: Must have experience in network monitoring. The ideal candidate will be able to proactively identify network issues and act on the remediation process while following the process for business communication and technology implementation.

At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings, The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $120,000.00 - $140,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
