We also distribute over 1,000 channels internationally using our fibre and satellite infrastructure.
Our advanced, dedicated networks are also supporting the management of critical data and content for connected devices including smart TVs and smart meters for water, gas and electricity.
Location We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment with the candidate required to travel to either our Winchester or London office once or twice a week.

Overview
Provides technical leadership within Software Engineering, setting the direction for solutioning and ensuring that complex IT solutions align with overarching business objectives and long-term strategy. Prioritises the backlog for the technical architecture team and ensures that the business priorities are met.
Accountabilities
Directs the design and implementation of engineering solutions across Software Engineering, considering factors like scalability, performance, and energy efficiency.
Recognised authority accountable for the definition of technical architecture
Leads and guides the leadership team within Software Engineering for solution design
Sets the principles and guardrails for technical architecture and ensures that these are met across different areas
Supervise the lifecycle management approach for hardware systems, from design to disposal
Prioritises the backlog for the technical architecture team in Software Engineering, ensuring that business priorities are met and demand and capacity are aligned
Provides technical leadership and guidance to programme teams, ensuring that the solutions are implemented according to the architectural blueprints
Directs the effective reuse of technologies and features across all Arqiva’s product and platforms
Negotiates with Head of Software Engineering to ensure the correct technologies are used within platforms and products
Collaborates with wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders to goals, ensuring that the solutions are aligned
Manage self & task role model Arqiva’s culture goals with the team, building respect and credibility; set a high-performance bar and challenge the team to deliver sustainable results, by
developing the skills and capabilities of the team and focusing on outcomes.
Manage relationships & communications connect, collaborate & lead communication transparently, balancing face to face and virtual, with own team and teams across the business to
encourage cross-functional understanding, agreement and knowledge sharing.
Aligns technical architecture with Enterprise architecture to ensure that data solution strategy aligns with the enterprise vision
Skills
Solution Architecture - Ability to design end-to-end technical solutions that integrate various systems, services, and technologies
Knowledge of software development life cycle, cloud best practices, software development best practices
Virtualisation & Cloud Computing - Proficiency with virtualisation and cloud computing e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud platforms
Communication skills - collaborate with cross-functional teams, present technical info and provide training or support
Analytical and technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues
Attention to detail - keen attention to detail in identifying defects and ensuring accuracy
Innovation & CI - ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement
Relationship management - ability to foster relationships (and network) with external vendors, suppliers, industry peers, etc.
Knowledge & Experience
Significant experience of working in a software development team
Extensive experience in solution architecture or a related field; experience of managing a team of architects
Proven track record in designing and delivering architecture solutions for connectivity systems and infrastructure
Comprehensive knowledge of architecture frameworks and best
practices (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
Qualifications
A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is advantageous.
Leadership and Management - management proficiency in influencing, analysis, decision making, empathy, communications, and adaptability
