Job Title: Healthcare Auditor
Reports To: Manager of Auditing & Coding
Location: Remote/off site
Position Status: Full-Time
Position Type: Regular

Job Overview
The Auditor is to support the auditing team in performing retrospective E/M chart audits as well as other miscellaneous tasks related to documentation and/or billing/coding auditing and compliance. The candidate will be a certified professional with an eye for detail and extensive knowledge of all coding guidelines, federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.
The is a remote/work-from-home position. Consistent Monday-Friday work schedule, with occasional overtime. Onsite hoteling and training at our corporate office in Oak Brook and on-site training. 
Essential Functions:

1.    Works as a trustworthy member of the Auditing Department.
2.    Understands and can apply coding guidelines to chart audits.
3.    Flags topics for internal audits of NANI providers based on documentation and coding data.
4.    Assists in obtaining medical records to support internal and external audits.
5.    Travel may be required for this position for site education sessions.
6.    Must have dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, and be able to provide proof of valid vehicle insurance.
7.    Additional miscellaneous duties assigned to meet the needs of the organization as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
•    Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, and billing.
•    Ability to analyze and identify opportunities in documentation improvement.
•    Maintain confidentiality of client and departmental information.
•    Knowledge of medical terminology.
•    Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, E/M, and HCPCS coding.
•    Organizational Skills.
•    Excellent time management skills and organizational skills. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve or exceed performance goals and objectives. 
•    Disciplined, independent worker who can provide quality results with minimal one-on-one guidance.
•    Ability to use computer software, including Microsoft products, company technology, and other paperless systems. 
•    Ability to navigate the Electronic Medical Record to identify appropriate documentation for coding/billing in support of submitted department charges.
•    Strong communication, including written and oral skills with an ability to interpret and communicate analytical information to both individuals and groups in a clear, concise manner.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships with all NANI departments and colleagues. 
•    Must have dependable transportation, valid driver’s license is a plus.
•    Possess and in-depth understanding of coding and compliance rules and regulations.

•    Education, Experience, and License/Certification:
•    Education: High school diploma/GED + certification/degree from an accredited program (AHIMA or AAPC).
•    Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in E/M auditing; Nephrology experience preferred.
•    Certifications/Licensure: Candidate must possess current certification as a professional coder (CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or similar certification).
