Job Description

Intern with the Oracle Labs App Dev and Research teams which run the Oracle App Platform project and a number of other interesting projects at Oracle Labs.

Oracle App Platform

Cloud-native application platforms simplify deployment and operation of applications in the cloud. For developers, these platforms offer out-of-the-box integration with cloud services such as network management, logging and monitoring, and identity management. For operations, they offer built-in support for platform monitoring as well as support for automated scaling and failover.

The App Platform project aims to develop an application platform built around Oracle's opinionated view of how cloud-native applications should be architected as well as the technology components used to build them. Besides providing seamless integration with various technologies and services, the App Platform will offer automated testing, scaling, tuning, and failure detection and recovery to help improve application security, reliability, and performance.

  • Automated Tuning and Upgrades
  • Patching security vulnerabilities in application dependencies
  • Automated Testing
  • Embedded runtimes for virtual network functions
  • Embedded runtimes for embedding customer applications within trusted services
  • Identity and policy management


What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):

To be considered for a Research Assistant position in the Oracle Labs organization, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.

  • Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent science/engineering field during the 2024-2025 and/or 2025-2026 school year.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
  • Experience collaborating in a team environment on research projects
  • Able to obtain work authorization in Canada
  • Position is located in Vancouver, BC, Canada


Experience and can demonstrate proficiency in at least three of these following areas:

  • Modern object-oriented programming languages
  • Computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis)
  • Parallel and distributed computing
  • REST APIs and the concepts of RESTful architecture
  • Modern IDEs, version control (git), build management and Linux
  • File systems development and optimization
  • Software implementations of networking stacks
  • Application and operating system security management and configuration


Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

CA: Hiring Range in CAD from: $20,500 - $102,000 per year.
