Job Description
Summary:
As the Senior Director of Medical Affairs, this leader is responsible for:
Strategically directing and managing global KOL programs and key account relationships, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regional commercial and marketing teams.
Leading a team of global clinical coordinators and development specialists from various regions, ensuring high-performance and strategic alignment while optimizing resource allocation and project execution.
Overseeing the management and strategic direction of global clinical grant activities and budgets, including new proposal evaluations, compliant execution, and monitoring ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and maximizing return on investment.
Developing and delivering high-impact presentations and detailed reports for the Clinical Research Advisory Board (CRAB), providing transparency and strategic insights to senior leadership, and managing the overall budget of the medical affairs department to align with corporate objectives.
Managing the Medical Affairs budget to deliver ROI, track progress, and provide clear updates to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Serving as a trusted partner to the CMO, integrating cross-functional inputs, executing clinical strategies, and ensuring strategic priorities are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic KOL and Key Account Management:
Collaborate with the CMO and regional commercial and marketing teams to set strategic direction for global KOL programs.
Develop and execute strategies to identify, engage, and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key accounts.
Oversee reporting mechanisms for KOL activities and ensure customer engagement strategies are implemented to enhance clinical impact.
Work cross-functionally with other members of the CMO Leadership team to optimize KOL engagement strategies.
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead a diverse global team of clinical coordinators and development specialists, fostering a high-performance culture and aligning team efforts with strategic goals.
Manage cross-functional collaboration across the CMO team to drive clinical initiatives and educational activities.
Ensure team accountability for timelines, priorities, and deliverables while empowering individual contributors to excel
Grant Management and Development:
Oversee the management and strategic direction of clinical grant activities, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals.
Evaluate new grant proposals for relevance and potential impact, coordinating with relevant departments to refine initiatives.
Lead meetings to track the progress of ongoing grants, soliciting key stakeholder inputs for broad organizational alignment.
Monitor the execution of clinical projects and collaborations, guiding adjustments and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Manage the budget for clinical collaborations, grant activities, and KOL programs, establishing metrics to assess efficacy and ROI.
Presentation, Budget Governance, and Reporting:
Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to develop presentations for the Clinical Research Advisory Board (CRAB), showcasing new and ongoing grants.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations that outline the status, challenges, and achievements of clinical collaborations.
Oversee and manage the medical affairs budget, ensuring accurate forecasting, resource management, and alignment with corporate objectives.
Qualifications:
a. Required:
Educational Background: Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in radiation biology, physics, or a related medical/clinical/biological field preferred.
Industry Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the medical device industry, with demonstrated expertise in clinical studies, grant management, and KOL engagement.
Leadership and Team Management
Proven ability to lead diverse, global teams and align cross-functional efforts across departments.
Demonstrated ability to manage professionals from diverse technical and professional backgrounds effectively.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and deliver results in matrixed organizations.
Budget and Resource Management:
Demonstrated ability to manage clinical grants and projects, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
Capable of forecasting project needs, managing multiple tasks, and holding teams accountable for timelines and deliverables.
Communication and Strategic Thinking:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver impactful clinical presentations and reports.
Strategic thinker with a track record of aligning clinical programs with corporate goals.
Language: Proficiency in the English language (native or equivalent level).
Travel Requirements: This position requires approximately 20-25% global travel.
